Terms of Service

1. Acceptance
By using AlphaMessage you agree to these Terms of Service and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Eligibility & access
AlphaMessage is open to everyone and is provided free of charge. An account is opened with a verifiable email address and becomes active only after the link mailed to that address is opened; depending on the deployment, an administrator approval or an invitation may additionally be required. You must be at least 18 years old to use the app. Access may be granted or revoked at our discretion.
The app is currently free: there is no charge for using it and no advertising. If paid features are offered in the future they will be announced in advance, and existing free use will not silently become paid.
3. Your account & device security
You are responsible for the security of your device and your account. Because private encryption keys are held on your device, we recommend keeping your device lock/biometrics and, where available, the app lock enabled. Do not share your authentication credentials.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the app to:
- send unlawful content or content that infringes the rights of others;
- harass, threaten, spam, or distribute malware;
- attempt to harm, circumvent, or disrupt the service, its infrastructure, or other users;
- use the app in violation of applicable law.
Note that because of end-to-end encryption we cannot see message content and cannot moderate content at the code level; we respond to abuse reports with account- and device-level enforcement. The audio/video stream of voice rooms inside a channel is outside that encryption (see Section 5); even so, we do not record, listen to, or analyse those rooms.
5. Channels, roles and moderation
Channels (servers) are team spaces made of text and voice rooms. Whoever creates or administers a channel is responsible for its membership, roles and rules; they may add, remove, mute or ban members. By joining a channel you also accept that channel’s rules.
Channel messages are end-to-end encrypted as well: nobody — not channel administrators, not us — can decrypt the content. Moderation therefore happens at the membership and permission level, not by scanning content. You are responsible for whatever you say in a voice room or show while screen sharing; close sensitive material before you share your screen.
Voice rooms are not end-to-end encrypted. The audio and video stream of voice rooms inside a channel is decrypted on the server (the SFU) that distributes it to the participants. The connection between your device and the server is encrypted, so a third party watching the network cannot listen to you; but someone with access to the server could technically access the stream. We do not record, listen to, or store these rooms. Everything else in the app — one-to-one and group messages, text rooms, attachments, backups, and one-to-one/group calls — remains end-to-end encrypted. For a sensitive conversation, use a call rather than a voice room. See section 5 of the Privacy Policy for details.
The acceptable-use rules in section 4 apply inside channels without exception. In case of a violation, channel management may act at the channel level and we may act at the account and device level.
6. Content & intellectual property
Content you send is yours. The AlphaMessage name, logo and software belong to their respective owners; these terms grant you only the right to use the app for its intended purpose and transfer no other rights.
7. Desktop app and updates
The Windows and Linux installers are distributed only from this site (alphamessage.net). After installation the app may update itself over the signed update channel; for security reasons we recommend leaving updates enabled. You agree not to modify or reverse engineer the app, and not to distribute modified builds. We are not responsible for builds obtained from any other source.
8. Encryption & data loss
Your encryption keys exist only on your device. If you lose, reset, or uninstall the app on a device, the local history and keys on that device may be unrecoverable. Because the server cannot decrypt content, we cannot restore your message history for you. Manage your devices and any encrypted backups accordingly.
9. Termination
We may disable an account or device, or terminate access, for violation of these terms or for operational reasons. You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Profile → Security → Delete account); the scope of deletion and retention windows are described on the Data Deletion page.
10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, excluding its conflict-of-law rules.
